Windy and very hot. I went out on pace for 14:10, 68 seconds per lap, and managed to hold this for 2.5km. Rubin McRae stayed with me for 4-5 laps and then dropped about ten seconds back, a distance he held till the end. After half way I slowed and finished with several laps at 71 seconds. I finished in 14:29 which is the fastest pre-season 5000m race I have ever run. I did this race from base work and am happy to run a solid performance to lead into more intense track training.
