Kiwi Milers Club had been unable to find a suitable pacemaker for this race so Ben Ruthe, Paul Hamblyn and myself decided to share the pace in order to post some fast times. Paul took the first lap in 60 seconds with Ben taking the next lap also in 60 seconds. I then took the lead and kept the same pace going, hitting the 1200m mark in the scheduled three minutes. At this stage I had a small gap from Ben and Paul and in the final 300m the positions stayed the same with the only change being Tom Osbourne coming through to take third. I finished the last 300m in 44 seconds and felt very strong. This race was a great one for Max Smith and Tom Osbourne as it was the first time under 3:50 seconds for both of them. Another successful Kiwi Milers Club event with a number of personal best times being run.
